Philip Emeagwali Who was a Computer Scientist

Philip Emeagwali contributed to black history month by won the Gordon Bell supercomputing prize in 1989 for applying the power of networked computers to analysis of oil field reserves.
Philip also designed the program and formula for the fastest computer on earth called the connection machine. He designed a system of parrallel computers that are used by all search engines. He also designed the Hyperball computer which is able to forecast long-term global warming patterns.
For the last step I chose John Love who invented the pencil sharpener. With out him we probably wouldn't be able to use pencils because by having to cut many trees down to supply all our needs in school. Which will hurt our economy.

Rodinia

1. How were Rodinia and Pangaea similar and different from each other? In Rodinia all the continents are near each other, but in pangaea they are all together.

2. When did the tectonic plates appear to move the fastest? (biggest difference between two consecutive maps)

I say from 420 million years to 450 million years

3. Look at Pangaea (250 million years ago). If the continents looked like Pangaea today, what would the world be like? Think about governments, sports teams and leagues, and other aspects of life.

We wouldn't need to travel by sea, but it would be peaceful and everybody would have to get along with each other.

4. Look at Pangaea. If you could pick any place in Pangaea to start a modern civilization, where would you pick? Why? (there is a key on the bottom of the page that explains what the little letters in the maps stand for. For example, "ar" means Arabia.)

I would choose South America because to the west the water ould be a good trade route. Also you are still in the middle where people will report and to at you because you are the inner country.

  1. TauTona gold mine in South Africa  which is about 3.6 kilometers deep.
  2. The mantle is 3,000 km of rock
  3. If I was to dig to the mantle with my friends we would see volcanos, magma, and lava flowing out. While in the mantle it would be entirly red and things melting like if you were to put lava on plastic. The outer core would be like a hot yellow jellow that would jiggle and would lead into the inner core which is like a round ball of cheese and as bright as the sun which would be solid and hard. Basically nothing can get through it. When we found out we couldn't brake through we tried to escape and about 2 of my friends burned to death because they unzipped their heat suit.
